What if I told you that 30 seconds of your time could pay for your next Starbucks run or even a week’s worth of milk?
It sounds too good to be true, but by stacking the right rewards programs, it’s entirely possible.
I’ve done the heavy lifting and ranked the 12 Apps that pay for grocery receipts 2026, so you can build a simple habit that turns your weekly shopping trip into a consistent stream of passive income.
Here are the 12 apps, and I use 11 of them.
- Swagbucks
- Inboxdollars
- Ibotta
- Fetch
- Receiptpal
- ReceiptHog

If you use those links, you get bonus points for yourself.

Is Scanning Receipts Worth the Time? My 2026 Earnings Breakdown
It’s one of the easiest semi-passive ways to earn income.
I’ve been doing it for a month and just using some of the apps with 1 person, and I just learned a better strategy with Ibotta, and I got $20-$24.
Plus, these apps have levels, so the more you use them, the higher the income you earn.
The best part is they don’t take a lot of time. It takes a few minutes, and it’s actually very fun.
I get it your skeptical, why would a company pay us for these receipts, right?
Well, I wrote a detailed post on 9 reasons companies pay for these receipts
Swagbucks: How to Earn Swagbucks Magic Receipts Rewards for Free Groceries
I really love this app.
I guess I’m supposed to add items to my list before I scan the receipt, so it’s still a good idea to do this.
It’s also good to look for “any item” so you can get paid for “any bread,” or “any juice,” or something.
However, a few times I just scanned the receipt, and it found items and gave me money for them.
The coolest thing with Swagbucks is that, apart from receipts, there are ALL kinds of ways to get paid on the app.
I wrote a post on 9 secrets to earn Swagbucks fast without doing surveys.
Inbox Dollars: InboxDollars Receipt Scanning Review: Can You Really Cash Out Fast?
This is unique because Inbox Dollars and Swagbucks are owned by the same company.
So if you use 1 receipt for both, then sometimes it can give you a message saying you already scanned the receipt.
However, sometimes there are items on Inbox Dollars that I have gotten paid for that were not on Swagbucks.
Honestly, if I have lots of brand products, sometimes I’ll check both apps to see which pays the most. That is how I use it.

Ibotta: Best Ibotta Stacking Strategies 2026: Get Maximum Cash Back on Groceries
Ibotta is the app that I believe pays the most.
The best part is they pay in cash, and there are no points. So you know exactly how much you get.
The bad news is that it does take a little bit more work.
What I do is do my normal shopping, and then I scan each individual item like a treasure hunt.
Next, I look for the “any item” and see if I can add one of those to the list.
Lastly, I will see if they accept “any receipt.”
There are better strategies to use the app to earn more. I wrote a post on 11 strategies for Ibotta for beginners.
Fetch: Fetch Rewards 2026 Guide: The Fastest Way to Earn Free Gift Cards
I really love the app, Fetch.
Maybe because it is so fast, and there is a dog on the app.
It’s very easy, and the best part is that they take any receipt.
Doesn’t matter if it’s a gas station, clothing store, hardware store, heck, I even got paid for a weed store receipt.
Plus, it might be the fastest app to use.
Receipts are 1 way to get paid on the app, but there are other unique secrets to earn even more points, and I wrote a post on 9 ways to get 10,000 points fast with Fetch.
ReceiptPal
This is another app that will take any receipt.
Scan a gas station, clothing stores, or any receipt you have.
The dollar amount doesn’t matter.
How it works is that each receipt is a checkmark on a card. When you fill out a card, you get paid.
If you go over the card, then it adds to a sweepstakes.
A good strategy is it might be better to submit the receipt on a new card instead of a full card, because hard cash is better than a sweepstakes.
You realistically have a VERY low chance to win the sweepstakes, but I guess it’s possible.
ReceiptPal: ReceiptPal Review 2026: How to Turn Any Receipt Into Amazon Credit
This is another one of my favorite apps.
What I like about it is that every now and then, I can do a spin of the hog wheel.
It’s a little luck machine that spits out more coins based on luck. It’s a bonus too.
It’s also very fast.
The coolest part of using these apps is that you can track your expenses, so you know how much you’re spending on various items, too.
Another secret with Receipt Hog, along with many of these apps, is to connect online shopping and email so you get EVEN more points.
You don’t have to do it, but I did.
Also, it’s fairly secure. You’re giving the app a security token to look for receipts, and you can revoke it at any time in your email provider.
The more accounts you hook up, the more points you get.
Merryfield: Merryfield App Tips: Getting Rewards for Clean & Organic Brand Purchases
Merryfield is an interesting app.
It’s half active and half passive.
This means if you just scan receipts, you can get points, and it can find brands and give you more points.
However, there is an active element where you can get more points.
If you open the open you will see a special offers section. This is where, if you buy 2 of an item, you get a ton of points, or sometimes it’s just buy 1 item, and it might even be for free.
These are good to know about before you go shopping.
Also, Merryfield gives bonus points for any eggs or products. Sometimes the app catches them, but you might want to add it just to ensure you get credit for it.
ReceiptJar: ReceiptJar vs. ReceiptHog: Which App Pays More for Your Data in 2026?
This is a very fun app.
I really enjoy looking at the charts of my spending habits. It just has a nice layout.
It does take all receipts, so whatever receipt you have, just upload it.
The annoying part of the app is they want your phone to be flat when taking a photo. 1 time it got stuck, and no matter how level my phone was, it kept giving me this error message.
So, I just restarted my phone and tried again, and this fixed it.
ReceiptJar gives you more points the more you spend.
- Under $10: 5 points
- $10 – $50: 10 points
- $50 – $100: 15 points
- Over $100: 20 points
There is also a level system, so the more you use the app, the more points you get. Plus, they have a cool shake thing in the app.
I wrote more tips and strategies on using the app in this post on the top 5 receipt apps that take any receipt.
CoinOut: CoinOut Diamond Level Strategy: Maximize Your Daily Jingle & Slot Spins
Coinout is an easy app that takes any receipt.
It also has a level system, so the more you use the app and the more accounts you connect, the more you earn per receipt.
Also, it has a cool feature where if you have videos playing on your phone in the background (you don’t have to watch the video), you get points.
I’m doing that right now.
It is capped at 20 videos a day, each video is 5 coins, so that is 100 coins a day to have videos play in the background.
Oh, and I just found this out right now, if you check in, you get 30 coins and 3 game plays of this slot machine, where you can get bonus coins. You just have to be on the app for 60 seconds for it to count.
Of course, I’m on diamond level; it might be different for a lower level.
I found it by going to my coins section and clicking on “daily jingle.”
Also, at times, I will get slot machine spins out of the blue, which is fun.
Frisbee: How to Use the Frisbee App to Get Instant Cash Back on Every Purchase
Frisbee is an app that is super easy and takes any receipt. I just started using it recently.
It’s very fast and easy, since you don’t have to look for offers or brands.
Another unique thing with Frisbee is its games.
You get paid per minute of playtime you play a game. This is different than many games I found on Swagbucks, where you usually have to hit a level to get paid.
Pogo: Pogo App Safety Review: Linking Your Bank Account for Passive Rewards
Pogo is the second-to-last app I downloaded and have been using.
It’s very easy and only takes a few seconds.
The unique thing with Pogo is that if you link accounts, it automatically scans and gives you points. The more accounts you link, like email and even credit cards, the more you earn.
If you’re hesitant about linking accounts, they use 256-bit SSL encryption and Plaid, so it’s secure. I did it.
However, I didn’t link my ChatGPT account, and Gemini actually recommended me not. There is a lot of sensitive stuff in AI chats.
Maybe Gemini doesn’t want me cheating on her.
Also, I just found this out right now, but if you check in daily, you get points. If you continue to do this, then you get more points.
Another unique thing with Pogo is that it has location rewards.
I found it at the very bottom of the home screen.
It’s like you go to a location, and sometimes just driving past or sitting in the parking lot can trigger a reward.
You tap the notification, watch a 5-second ad, and collect the points.
NCP Mobile: NCP Mobile (National Consumer Panel) 2026: Is the Extra Work Worth It?
This is the latest app I downloaded.
Just to get into the app, it took 5 minutes of questions.
It’s the app that requires the MOST work to get paid.
If you’re going to drop an app, this is the one to start with.
You don’t just upload receipts; you have to scan each item you purchased. You also have to answer questions about your visit.
They make you work for the points.
If that wasn’t bad enough, you have to manually enter the price of each item you purchased.
So, I don’t use this app; it’s not worth it for me.
If you want to earn the most, then you can add it if you want.
Expert Stacking Guide: How to Use 5 Apps on a Single Receipt Simultaneously
The coolest thing about grocery receipts is it can stack with other things.
I recommend going to this app, downloading it, and using the code KEVIN988973.
This app saves you money on gas, groceries, restaurants, and coffee shops.
By using the code, you get an additional 15¢ to 30¢ per gallon on your very first fill-up after the discount the app already gives.
Plus a one-time 10% to 20% extra cash back bonus on their first restaurant or grocery purchase.
Plus, if you pay with a credit card that gives reward points, you can stack that with the app and receipts.
This is before any promotions a grocery store runs.
Another way to stack savings is with everyday items, which can save you money.
They make reusable freezer bags, and I just recently got them and LOVE them.
They are easy to clean, help the environment, and put money in your pocket since you don’t have to buy them.
You can check if Amazon is running any discounts on them.
Another easy way to save cash, which I also recently purchased, was these dryer balls. They sound silly, but all you do is throw them in the dryer, and they save 15-25% of the electrical bill of the dryer.
It adds up.
Also, to get the full effect, you want to use all 6 balls and NOT have a full dryer.
If the weather allows, then hanging up clothes outside using a wire like this is a great idea.
Next, using a power strip that cuts electricity when devices are turned off can really add up. Works great with the energy hogs like TV’s and computers.
Sadly, even when some devices are turned off, they still draw electricity, which adds up.
The 5th way to save easy cash is with reusable coffee filters. I recently purchased one, and not only does it save money, but I don’t have to worry about the paper filters folding in and putting grounds in my drinking coffee.
The gold reusable coffee filters are the better ones.
Top 2 Hidden Side Hustles to Earn Extra Cash Online in 2026
Another way is a good work-from-home job. I recently did one where I was giving business owners a nice tax credit, and it might be the BEST job I’ve ever had.
I had so much fun.
There are TONS of different work-from-home jobs. Some of the jobs really kick ass.
Sadly, some work-from-home jobs are not legit, and they are bullshit.
Weeding through the bullshit and good opportunities is the hard part. The good news is this network manually vets every work-from-home job.
They even eliminate the 100% commission jobs (which I’m used to) if you want.
Plus, they even help you get the job, and they have a massive list. The bad news is it’s a subscription service.
BUT, you can always join, write down a few of your top choices, and then cancel during the free trial.
My favorite way to earn money at home might be affiliate marketing.
You can do it anywhere, anytime, around a busy schedule, have lots of fun, and do it in nearly any niche. Plus, earn some extra cash.
I’m giving away easy, free cheat sheets on the system I use.
Closing: Apps that pay for grocery receipts 2026
I hope this post was helpful.
You might have heard about this app called Rakuten, and if you can save money on groceries with it.
I did a full breakdown of the app, Rakuten vs. Ibotta: Which is better for groceries? 5 Differences
