If you’re stuck on which niche is best for affiliate beginners, don’t worry. I’ve got some strategies and tools that can help simplify this.
Choose a niche that is both…
- Something that interests you!
- Is profitable!
Keep reading and I’ll share exactly where some affiliates get it wrong, 3 ways to see if a niche is profitable, and how to narrow down your list of choices to 1 niche.
Which Niche is Best for Affiliate Beginners?
Some people think affiliate marketing is all about picking a product, then putting that product in front of as many people as possible and BAM, you get paid.
Sure, you can make some money doing that, but there is a better approach.
Find a group of people who are already buying products and put yourself in front of them!
Instead of picking just 1 product, it’s much better to pick a niche (a group of products).
You’re going to find the money stream first (the demand) then just put yourself in front of it as the expert! Sort of like, putting yourself in front of the wave at the perfect time, when surfing.
There are two ways to sell a product!
- Marketing – finding the demand first, then dangling some supply.
- Sales – Find the supply first and then create the demand.
The first choice, Marketing is easier!
I once heard a sales manager say “When 2 people meet a sale is made.” Sure there is some truth to this. But, I prefer a lazy way instead of a brow-beating approach.
How do we do this lazy way? Have the most fun, while still making the MOST money?
First start with a niche of hungry buyers who are already buying products, then offer products similar to what they are already buying. Of course, it helps if you build a relationship with them, so they know, like and trust you.
Easy right?
In case you’re not convinced I’ll share more reasons to go after a niche!
Other Reasons to Choose a Niche?
- It helps with SEO.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and it works with blogs, YouTube, and more. For example, with YouTube, you don’t want to always make a video and then send someone to a website.
Instead, it’s better to make a video then someone to another video, and then your website. You can only do this when you have a niche.
I’ll let you in on a little secret.
There are 2 types of YouTube subscribers, the one that hits the subscribe button. There is a secret subscriber where if they watch 1 of your videos and then watch a second video of yours in a certain time frame, YouTube classifies them as a subscriber.
This is why you want the wagon wheel approach.
You know, make 1 video pointing to a landing page, then 5-10 videos that point to that 1 video that points to your landing page.
It works the same with Google and blogs. It probably works with other things, because all these social media platforms don’t want people to leave their platforms.
- It helps build your authority.
A niche helps people trust what you are saying! Authority figures have a much easier time selling their ideas, then the new person with no experience right?
- It’s easier.
When you stick to a niche, you already have affiliate products picked out. You already have some basic understanding of certain topics. You might even have some graphics picked out to use on social media.
Heck, your social media profiles can all be promoting 1 landing page that solves the problem for that niche.
- You make more money.
Some people have to view a product a few times before buying. By sticking to 1 niche, you open up many more opportunities to get the sale. Thus you also make more money!
Plus you can recommend more products to 1 person in that niche. Oh, and you can have some nice interlinking that is helpful! You know 1 post links to another post about a similar topic!
I’m sure there are tons of other reasons to stick to 1 niche. Don’t worry you can change your niche in the future and later on I’ll talk about the best way to do this.
Next, let’s start with the first step which is brainstorming some ideas.
Brainstorm a List of Niches You Have an Interest In!
One of the dangers of affiliate marketing is losing interest and getting bored.
This is why it’s VERY important to choose a topic you are MOST interested in. So you will continue and not quit!
Here are some ideas to build this list…
- You would learn about it even if NOBODY paid you!
- Something you are very curious about!
- Related to your own problems and trying to solve them!
- It is a hobby you love doing when not at a Job.
- Friends and relatives are tired of you talking about it!
Whatever has sparked your own interest write it down! It doesn’t matter how silly it could be, maybe it’s…
- Extreme Ironing
- Beetle Fighting
- Cemetery Exploring
- Watching Paint Dry
- Mooing Competitions
I actually used ChatGTP to come up with those strange hobbies! Yes, use ChatGTP to brainstorm niche ideas too if it helps.
- The important thing is you are interested in it.
- It’s not too small, because you might get bored quickly.
- Could also list the hobbies and problems of your family, co-workers, and friends.
- Could also see what is trending to get ideas!
- Can use search engines and start with “secrets to”, “how to” and let the search engine give you ideas.
Now you have a few ideas of a niche you have an interest in, let’s see if you can actually make money with it. This reminds me of a saying…
If you treat your business like a hobby, it will pay you like a hobby. If you treat it like a business, it will pay you like a business.

How to See if a Niche is Profitable?
You want to see if the market is already buying products and services in the niche. If they are not, choose another niche. We are not trying to convince anyone to buy something!
First, let’s run the keyword into a giant online marketplace with Amazon.com and see how many results there are. I ran “bettle fighting” into the search and got 266 results.
Meanwhile “fishing” got over 100,00 results. So “bettle fighting” sadly is something you are going to want to cross off your list.
You could also see if there are any Podcasts dedicated to your niche. If there are then there is a good chance it’s profitable!
Another idea is to see if people are spending money on ads, when it comes to your niche. People generally don’t spend money on ads if they don’t “earn” money from them.
If you do a search in Google with your niche see how many ads show up. If there are no ads, or not many then maybe choose another niche!
You could take this one step forward and go to Google Keyword Planner. When you type in a keyword you can find out how many people are searching for it and what people are paying for ads.

Now you may have a few niches that you are interested in and are profitable. Let’s narrow it down even further, so you are left with just 1.
How to Narrow Down Your Niche to 1
One of my favorite sayings is..
Say NO to everything unless it’s HELL YEA
It just makes life SO simple right? Life is already complicated enough.
Use this saying when choosing a niche. What niche are you most unsure of? Cross that 1 off.
Another way to narrow down your list is which 1 seems like the most fun. That may be the better choice, so you continue working at it and not quit.
If you are still left with 2, then it might be a good idea to just flip a coin. Have the coin make the burden of the decision.
Are you Scared of commitment? Staying in a Niche Prison?
The good news is you can easily change your niche in the future. You’re NOT locked in for eternity. The key to changing your niche is to slowly evolve it.
For example, if your niche is SEO with Google, then you can slowly start talking about SEO with YouTube! If your niche is fishing you can slowly evolve to boats and even travel.
In fact, many content creators do evolve their niche and talk about other things, because their interests do change!
Conclusion
I hope this post might have been helpful to you! The main thing is you are having fun.
Many people don’t start due to self-doubt and negative self-talk! You don’t have to be an expert in your niche. You just have to know a little more than the person reading it!
