Step 1: How to collect zero-party data for email segmentation
This means to ask your subscribers what they are struggling with.
Honestly, I suck at this, and I probably should do this, and it’s a great idea.
How it would work is as soon as someone subscribers shoot them an email and ask them…”What is your biggest struggle right now?” Then provide 3 links.
- Link A – I suck at getting traffic (this is just an example).
- Link B – I can’t convert the traffic I do get.
- Link C – I’m completely brand new and know nothing.
Then, based on what link someone clicked, you would tailor products, services, and the experience to help that user.
This way it’s MORE targeted than a one-size-fits-all.
Also, when you know what your audience is struggling with, you won’t annoy them with the wrong messages. This is why it’s a great idea.
Another good thing is high engagement. Replies and clicks tell the email provider that your content is valuable and ensure your messages get received.
You can even go into more depth.
When your reader clicks the link, you can give them a list, and they can check boxes for what they want to hear about.
Another killer idea is ask a specific question and promise a FREE gift if they reply with their answer. You get great feedback and boost your reputation.
Instead of making the gift, you could just use PLR (Private Label Rights).
It’s where you own something, but don’t have to create it. Plus, you can keep 100% of the money if you want to sell it. You can use them for gifts, lead magnets, to make an offer scare, and MANY other uses.
Video is great because of the perceived value, and this one has 200 video courses.
AI prompts are another great PLR product because AI is so valuable. Prompts are like cheat codes to use AI, and this one covers nearly every niche.
Step 2: Best practices for optimizing email welcome sequences for trust
This is another amazing idea that I honestly don’t do.
The technique is to be the (email from a bestie). What you’re trying to do is build rapport and gain trust.
The first email can go into your story and explain why you began your journey in the niche you chose.
Email 2 – Could be to give value and be vulnerable. Maybe talk about a mistake you made, a lesson. You could add a PS at the bottom.
Email 3 – Would be a soft pitch for a low ticket item.
Talk about the benefits, talk about no pressure, just wanted to make sure you had the shortcut.
Not bad.
The system that I’ve been taught and currently do is to lean heavily into entertainment. If you can entertain them, then it opens the door to them giving you their time.
If the reader is bored, then the door closes.
Plus, they are SO fun to write for you and the reader. Oh, and I’m giving away a cheat sheet on exactly how this would work for free.
Step 3: How to build a high-converting affiliate bridge page
Instead of sending someone directly to an affiliate link, a bridge page warms them up.
It’s like your frame the sell.
Explain why you recommend it, maybe your own experience. This, of course, can boost conversions.
Even with a tiny list, you can pack a punch.
Another REALLY cool thing is you can give away bonuses. A super easy bridge page is this tool, which can create them for you. It includes hosting, which is nice, it’s drag and drop, you can close bridge pages and if you’re advanced, even bypass the affiliate offer.
What I like about it is that it automatically sends the bonuses to someone who purchases from your affiliate link. No more headaches with manual emails or checking receipts. It automates this.
Another nifty thing about this tool is that it creates scarcity for your bonus offers. There are countdown timers where you set the time. This turns an evergreen product scarce due to the bonuses.
The PLR products I mentioned earlier, like the video vault with 200 video courses, work great with this tool because you DON’T have to create the bonuses.
The AI prompt vault is another amazing bonus.
Step 4: How to create a low-cost tripwire offer that converts
This is another amazing idea, that I currently don’t do (and probably should).
There are 2 types of people on a list.
- People who have purchased from you
- People who are just looking
If someone has purchased something, they are WAY WAY more valuable!
The psychological barrier to buying from you again is broken. It’s like they move from skeptic to buyer, and this is huge.
How this would work is after someone signs up for your email list. The thank you page includes an offer to purchase something that is low ticket.
Again, those PLR offers I talked about earlier can work great.
You could offer them for $1 dollar if you want.
Now, when someone purchases them from you. You keep 100% of the money for one, and you turn that lead into a buyer.
Now, you could charge more if you want. Ideally, it should be a low-ticket item!
What is cool about the tripwire is that if you’re doing paid ads and spend $100 on ads and make the $100 back on your tripwire, your lead generation is FREE.
Plus, the tripwire cleans your list, meaning you focus on revenue!
Another bonus is that if your tripwire is good, it helps your brand, so people will trust you for other offers in the future.

Step 5: How to find micro-sponsorships for small newsletter creators
This is sort of like user a influencer to shout out your campaign.
This shout-out is WAY more powerful than cold traffic from a paid ad.
Back in the days, we called these JV ventures or (Joint Ventures), sort of like I promote your list if you promote my list. Everyone wins.
For paid ads on an email list, it’s called “Solo Ads.”
The problem is finding the deals. Substack has something similar, but they made the process much easier.
- First – look for people who serve the same customer but sell a different solution!
- Second – Ask them to promote your Tripwire or free landing page gift. This way it’s an easier ask!
- Third – Either pay the influence or do some type of value swap.
This is a 1 time shout-out!
This value swap could be “If you mention my landing page to your list, I’ll create a Pinterest board for your list and promote your landing page to my 1,000 followers.”
Or if your list is around the same size, you both promote each other’s landing page 1 time.
Microsponserships are a great way to grow fast.
Step 6: How to price high-ticket expertise service tiers for 2026
These are the deep sales in your sales funnel or email campaign.
- Front end is low-ticket items or freebies.
- The Middle is residual income products, maybe a little higher offer products.
- End is the high ticket items.
AI can be great for finding high-ticket items in your niche or to give you some ideas on how to create them.
Just be careful NOT to burn out with coaching and set clear boundaries.
Like two 30 minute zoom calls for a high-end price.
Offer 1-on-1 “Strategy Audits” or consulting. With only 1,000 subs, selling four $250 consulting sessions per month is a $1,000/mo income stream. Not bad, right?
Another great idea is if you have digital products to sell, a 1 time bundle for a big discount. Again, why the PLR products are a great idea.
You can sell a whole package for 1 price. Even if you get a few sales here and there, it adds up.
How many $20 affilaite products do you have to sell to make $500? Exactly 25!
As you can see, these 11 steps to monetize a small email list (under 1k subs) prove that size doesn’t matter when it comes to earning more, especially with some high-ticket deep offers!
Step 7: Best digital tip jar platforms for creators and bloggers
Some people feel guilty consuming your content.
This allows them to balance the scale. It’s also low barrier, maybe $5. It’s good for the creator because it can cover the cost of hosting.
A few big mistakes to avoid would be….
- Sounding desperate – Don’t be like, please, I’m starving. Instead, say something like “if you found this helpful and want to support my coffee habit, here is how.”
- Never replace your offers – It’s an extra, NOT the main revenue!
- Make it simple – Use a platform that allows 1 click payments! So there is no barrier. I like this platform for allowing tips.
- Explain what it supports – Such as supporting your YouTube channel or enabling you to give free eBooks or something.
Oh, and for email, it’s good to put it in a PS. section at the bottom.
Such as, I spent 4 hours researching this. If you feel it was helpful, feel free to drop a tip in the tip jar here.
Also, don’t do it in every email; maybe once a week or once a month. I like this platform for the tip jar. Someone doesn’t have to create an account to tip you. It’s a 1 button, so it’s easy. It’s framed as buying you a coffee.
There are no monthly fees, just 5% if someone tips you. Plus, you are paid immediately, and you can sell ebooks or PDFs on your profile, coaching as a bonus (if you want), so everything is simple.
Step 8: How to structure a paid 5-day email challenge mini-course
This is like sending someone a series of emails (5-7).
The goal is to take the reader from 1 problem to a result in that time.
You would ask for payment before the “mini course.” You could even use the platform that I talked about earlier for tips.
$5-$10 is worth it since they are WAY more likely to actually do the work.
They are not paying for the information; they are paying for you to tell them “exactly” what to do on each day.
There is also no tech friction. No passwords, usernames, it’s very easy and simple.
What to avoid
- Make it too long (5 -7 days is good).
- Don’t overwhelm them: Each email is easy, like 10 minutes to read with an easy assignment.
- No finish line: If there is NO tangible benefit, they may not feel like they got their money’s worth.
A tangible benefit could be something simple, like 7 days to create a landing page. At the end of the 7 days, they have a landing page.
Since it’s delivered via email, you don’t need expensive hosting or a course platform.

1. What is “Zero-Party Data”?
Data you buy from a third party.Information subscribers voluntarily share (like their struggles).
A secret password for AI.
Step 9: How to get paid for newsletter boosts and cross-promotions
This is a really cool idea.
It’s like when someone signs up, you recommend a few similar newsletters. If that person also signs up for the newsletter, you earn $1 to $5.
This is called CPA marketing, and I love it because you earn money without having to sell anything. All they have to do is sign up, and it’s also free for them.
If you wanted an automated, easy way to set this up, I would recommend checking out this website.
It’s free to join, and they only charge a fee after you have made money. It’s 20% and a processing fee of around 3.5%.
Oh, and you can pay other creators to recommend your newsletter if you want. Just make sure you can gain a profit from it.
Step 10: How to launch a premium paid newsletter tier with no burnout
This is similar to step 6, except instead of coaching, it’s content.
Generally, only 1-2% of people will upgrade, SO it’s best to wait until you have 500 – 1,000+ subscribers on your list.
It could be something like.
- Full access
Such as hidden pages on your site that have all your cheat sheets, guides, ebooks, or something.
- Deep case studies
Instead of general tips, you share more details. The exact things you did to get the results. maybe behind the scenes videos or photos.
- Question and Answers
Monthly thing where you do like a 30 minute zoom call to answer questions or a dedicated email to pro questions.
- Reply to their emails
They pay you to reply to their emails within 48 hours. Interesting.
You can charge Monthly or yearly for this. The sweet spot is $9 to $15 a month. But, if your content helps someone earn MORE, then you can charge even more.
Mistakes
Just be careful not to burn out. Don’t promise TONS of content you have a hard time delivering.
Also, remember to send a welcome sequence after someone pays. Maybe give them a gift, so they feel like they got something from their purchase until your scheduled emails.
If you have 1,000 subs, that’s 20–50 paid members (you could earn an extra $200–$500 a month). At just $10 a month.
Not bad, right?
Step 11: How to find newsletter affiliate swap partners in your niche
Finally, step 11 is to partner with someone who has a similar list size as yours. Some call this a “newsletter swap.”
This is similar to step 5 BUT, but it’s an ongoing thing, not just a 1 time shout out!
Back in the day, we called these JV ventures.
It’s like I recommend your list and you recommend mine. So, when would you do this in your newsletter?
If you just wrote an email about YouTube and you know a partner has a great newsletter about “YouTube,” then this could be a perfect time.
Another idea is in the PS. section of an email. This is a low-pressure way to recommend a newsletter. Lastly, a dedicated email as a creator spotlight really shines the light on your partner.
So that it’s fair, a good rule of thumb is to find a partner that is 20% larger or smaller than yours and complements your niche (good for your audience).
The largest problem is finding someone who has a list that is similar to yours, and whom you can recommend. Here are a few directories where you can
If you want more ideas, you could try Pinterest.
Look for creators in your niche and sign up for their newsletter. If their welcome emails feel like it’s coming from a solo creator, it could be a match.
Also, there are groups like “Newsletter Creators” in Facbook where people look for swap partners. Other ideas could include asking AI to find some partners.
