Did you know that Odysee pays you just for watching videos, uploading content, and even sharing links? Most creators and viewers leave free rewards on the table—are you one of them?
- Put a link in your profile, ideally to a landing page.
- You can earn rewards for creating videos
- You can earn rewards by watching videos
- You can earn rewards for referring people
Keep reading, and I’ll share how to earn the most money using Odysee and some of the challenges this platform is facing.
What is Odysee
Odysee is a decentralized video-sharing platform that gets around 7 million monthly viewers. When you compare this to YouTube, which gets 2.74 billion monthly viewers, it’s no wonder people think of a Greek story.
You know Homer and the Odyssey about him returning after the Battle of Troy?
What makes Odyssey cool is that you can earn rewards for posting videos and EVEN watching videos. Heck, you even get rewards for telling people about Odysee, and you can check it out HERE.
I say rewards because it’s cryptocurrency (LBRY token) that you can trade for cash—you don’t actually get paid in cash.
The bad news is that as I’m writing this post, the price of LBRY is super low.

1 USD is around 903.88 LBC (LBRY, same thing).
However, I just found out that Odysee is planning on switching to the AR (Arweave) token, and that price is..

The token AR is $8.09 for 1 token as I write this post.
The reason for the LBRY price collapse and Odysee switching tokens is that a judge sided with the SEC ruling that LBRY was an unregistered security, and it got into some legal trouble.
The million-dollar question is what happens to LBC (same as LBRY) if Odysee switches tokens? The price will probably collapse because where is the utility?
How to Earn More as a Creator with Odysee
1- The number 1 way to earn more money with Odysee is to fill out your profile. In your profile, you should have posted a link, and “ideally,” this link should go to a landing page.
This landing page is where you collect emails in exchange for giving someone a free gift.
Then, using email, you can promote various affiliate offers, and you can do WAY more with it. If you know what you’re doing with email, you don’t even need that many views or traffic.
Lucky for you, I created a free guide all about this.
How to set up a landing page, how to craft emails, how to earn money from them, how to get emails opened, and EVEN how to earn 100% of the profit when promoting something.
You can view this free guide HERE.
2 – The second way to earn money is when you create a video and, at the end, mention the link in your profile. Talk about the benefits of the free gift you’re giving away and your newsletter.
3- The third way is to repurpose your videos. This means you make 1 video, then post it to MANY platforms like Odysee to get tons of views for “little” work.
I created a whole post on this strategy, and you can view it HERE.
4- Finally, whatever peanuts and sunflower seeds you earn with Odysee (it’s a bonus), you will earn WAY more with email (if you do it right).
- You can earn crypto with ads.
- Tip jars—viewers can tip you in either LBRY tokens or USD.
- Staking: Your LBRY token can earn interest by holding it.
- Superchats—similar to YouTube’s Superchats, Odysee allows viewers to pay to have their messages highlighted in chat during live streams.
- Referrals—You can earn LBRY tokens by referring people to the platform. Yes, you can also do this with an email list.
5 – Finally, you do realize that with an email list, you can also promote your videos and earn more money with all the methods I just mentioned?
How to Earn More as a Viewer
Believe it or not, you can actually earn rewards by watching videos on Odysee. This is called rewards, and a viewer will earn some LBRY tokens by watching ads.
The amount is very small, and I couldn’t find an exact amount. It’s more about engaging with the platform and ecosystem instead of just earning rewards per hour.
It’s discovering new content, supporting creators, and interacting
I recommend just pretending it’s nothing, and also, the token might be going away, so don’t get your hopes up too high.
Still, it’s better than YouTube.
Converting and Using Your LBC
You can trade your LBC for other cryptocurrencies and even cash. You do have to jump through some hoops.
- You could sign up for an exchange such as Upbit, CoinEx, Bittrex, or Hotbit. Additionally, you can find LBC trading pairs on exchanges like MEXC.
- and potentially Changelly or SimpleSwap.
You then would exchange LBC for a stable coin like USD or another popular crypto. Then you would link a bank account to the exchange to withdraw the stablecoin.
Make sure these exchanges are available in your area.
I do know that SimpleSwap does take LBC and can be traded for another popular crypto or even fiat money (real cash).
The bad news is that there are fees for fiat-to-crypto exchanges; a 4.95% total commission applies on SimpleSwap.
Common Mistakes for Creators on Odysee
- The single biggest mistake a creator can make is not having a call to action at the end of their video.
This call to action could be…
- -Click the link in my profile
- -Leave a tip
- -Subscribe or follow
I think of the call to action as “how creators get paid.” Not everyone is going to do what you ask, but they are more likely to.
I highly recommend the landing page approach because you can make the most amount of money.
Funny or not funny 1 of the reasons Odysee was created was that creators on YouTube felt cheated due to the monetization (ad revenue).
Sure, ad money is nice; consider it a bonus. The real money is in recommending products and getting paid a LARGE commission from it.
Yes, doing email correctly means you can earn WAY more money!
Being a creator is tough work; you should get paid!
- Not understanding SEO on the platform.
From my understanding, Odysee is similar to YouTube. Even though you make videos for people, you still have to dummy-proof it for the machine. This means…
- Optimizing titles.
- Description and tags matter.
- Uploading consistently still matters.
- Playlists and branding still are great.
- Thumbnails do help. (I just retested this, and sadly, it’s true.)
- Engaging with comments is still big.
There really are tons of ways to optimize a video to get the most views. You can view an entire post I created on how to do this HERE.
Should I sync my YouTube to Odysee?
It’s better to manually upload your content to Odysee than sync. Not only are there some reliability issues with syncing, but Odysee is working on removing this feature.
Plus, by manually uploading your videos, you ensure it’s uploading, and it’s a good habit to get into so you can upload it to other places as well.
Conclusion
Will Odysee be the next TikTok or Instagram? Likely not, but nobody has a crystal ball.
Imagine if Odysee does take off big and you have an audience.
Odysee is 1 extra platform to post your content. It’s similar to Rumble, Dailymotion, and many others. The power is that it barely takes any time to post, and if it leads to a few solid subscribers to your list, it could mean “a lot” in the long run.
Especially if you promote good products! Plus, it’s free, right?

Hope this post was helpful. Bye for now.
