Basically, if you have a receipt within the last 14 days, submit it, and you can get paid. Some places are more strict with the time!
The reason they pay for this is that they are buying your consumer data.
Yes, they can be other people’s receipts, but your account might get flagged if it looks too suspicious, like 5 receipts from different states in 1 day.
Also, be careful when scanning a receipt that a friend has already scanned. 1 receipt per platform. The good news is that 1 receipt can be scanned on multiple platforms.

There is a little bit of a strategy to grocery receipts for rewards.
Ibotta, Swagbucks, and Inbox Dollars – require you to activate offers before scanning.
Fetch – This one is nice because it takes no effort and gives you points instantly.
Receiptpal and Receiphog – These are not picky but have slots or cards that fill up.
How to Use the ReceiptPal Connection Feature for Automatic Rewards
You get 5 cards per week, and each card requires 4 receipts. This means you can earn points on roughly 20 receipts per week.
ReceiptPal often limits you to 3 receipts from the same merchant within a 24-hour period.
You have strictly 7 Days (sometimes less) to submit the receipt!
Understanding the ReceiptHog Coin Limit: How to Maximize Your Weekly Payouts
ReceiptHog is more about the total value of the coins you earn rather than just the number of pieces of paper.
You can earn full coin rewards (5-20 coins per receipt) until you hit 100 coins in a week.
Once you hit 100 coins in a week, each receipt you earn only gets you 5 coins.
You can submit up to 60 receipts per week.
How to Unlock High-Paying Ibotta Rebates Without Buying Name Brands
It’s best to add offers to your list before you shop. Not only do they lock in the cash back, but you also know about the bonuses.
You would go on the app and hit the (+) button on an item.
Remember – check ‘any item’ offers; These are nice, such as 0.25 cents back on any loaf of bread! Or they also have “any receipts,” which pays you.
If you want to look for items after you’ve been shopping, there is a trick.
You could go to the store you went to, and in the search bar, there is a barcode. Click that and scan all the items of the “actual physical” products that were purchased.
It will tell you if there is cash back or not.
I find this to be the easiest way to do it. The next easiest way is to type in the name of the actual product.
Lastly, if you can’t find anything, remember to go to “any item” and choose “any receipt” and submit that for something.
You have to add everything to your list before submitting.
Oh, and for popular stores like Walmart or Safeway, you can attach to your loyalty account with them to make it easier.
Also, you must submit your receipt within 7 days of purchase with Ibotta.
Maximizing Your InboxDollars Earnings with the Magic Receipts Feature
Inbox dollars you have to add items before submitting the receipt.
Unlike Ibotta, you can’t scan each item. Sadly, you have to type in each item by brand, like (Tide, Snickers, Kraft).
On the app for Inbox dollars they do have a scan products but that is for scanning items in the store for market research. Yes, you can earn some extra cash hunting down items in a store and scanning them.
The trick with Inbox Dollars is on the search bar type in “any.”
It will list all the offers for any item that you can add to your list to get paid for.
If Ibotta has an offer for that brand, there is a high chance InboxDollars/Swagbucks has one too.
InboxDollars also has streaks, which are similar to bonuses with Ibotta.

Swagbucks is owned by the same company as Inbox Dollars.
Both apps limit you to 10 any receipts submissions per week.
You could do big grocery receipts to 1 place and the other app use for small receipts like gas stations, coffee shops, and small places.
You can technically use the same receipt if you are claiming completely different brand offers.
The risk is that it might still get flagged.
Another idea is to put both items on a single list in the app that pays more and submit it once.
How to Earn Fetch Rewards Points Fast (Even on Non-Participating Brands)
It has a daily reward.
Instead of scanning all your receipts in 1 day, you could space them out each day to get more rewards.
Also, if you have an Android. There may be games where just having a game open in the background means you can get points.
However, when I look, I only see ones where if you reach levels, you get point bonuses, but I’ve heard they exist.
ReceiptPal Strategy: How to Fill Your Point Cards Faster Every Week
Any receipt from a Sunday-to-Saturday week must be submitted by the following Tuesday.
You earn points by filling up “point cards.” Once you fill your cards for the week, you stop earning points and start earning sweepstakes entries.
The sweepstakes entries are VERY hard to win, while coins are guaranteed cash!
