How Blogging / Affiliate Marketing is great for Work From Home Jobs for Retired Teachers Over 60
Blogging or affiliate marketing is an AMAZING side gig.
What is SO cool is how flexible it is. Meaning you can do it anywhere in the world. You can do it at anytime.
Only have 1 hour in the evening, you can do it.
You can do it in ANY niche. Do you like fishing? You can learn about fishing, share your knowledge, have fun, and get paid.
Plus, AI can be more of a help.
Affiliate marketing is when you post a link, and if someone clicks on it and purchases something, you get paid. Sometimes, if someone fills out a box for more information, you get paid.
Blogging is creating content (words) and earning money through ads, affiliate offers, charging, sponsorships, brand deals, and more.
Now, blogging is flexible too. I recommend owning a website, but you can do it on Substack, Medium, Reddit, Quora, and there really are TONS of options.
The income is all over the place. To be 100% transparent, most bloggers and affiliate marketers don’t make very much money.
However, some make VERY good income!
Ads from a blog do pay more than YouTube, plus you can get ad revenue on day 1. If you put in some affiliate offers and repurpose your content, then you can get more.
If you want to learn more about blogging, I created a whole post HERE that shares 20 benefits and 10 steps to start one.
But money isn’t everything.
If you enjoy it, learn, and give, then this is VERY good!

How Tutoring is great for Work From Home Jobs for Retired Teachers Over 60
A few years ago, I traveled around Europe, and I saw a few people in dorms working.
When I asked what they were doing, it was tutoring. Now, mostly this was helping with english BUT there are many other topics to tutor.
You have already spent TONS of time mastering a topic. With your experience and knowledge, you probably could command higher rates.
Plus, you can help people, and this could be rewarding.
The bad news is that some basic tech knowledge and equipment might be needed.
Something like this HERE is the first area I would recommend, so you can speak and listen to students.
When it comes to visuals, this HERE is a nifty way to look professional and be more trustworthy.
| Tutor Category | Hourly Rate | Estimated Monthly (Part-Time) |
| Beginner / K-12 General | $15 – $25 | $500 – $1,500 |
| STEM (Math, Physics) | $30 – $60 | $1,500 – $3,500 |
| Test Prep (SAT, GRE, MCAT) | $45 – $100+ | $2,500 – $5,000+ |
| Specialized (Coding, Law, Finance) | $60 – $120+ | $3,000 – $8,000+ |
How an Online Test Scorer or Reader is great for Work From Home Jobs for Retired Teachers Over 60
There are companies that hire retirees to grade essays and exams.
Man, did I hate taking tests in school.
More good news is that they can require very low-tech knowledge! Plus, many of them are seasonal work, great for people who have the summer off.
Yeah, I love the summertime.
The pay isn’t the best at $15 and $30 per hour on average, depending on a few things.
| Company / Role | Estimated Pay Rate | Notes |
| Pearson | $17.50 – $22.00 / hour | Often hires for teacher certification or state-level assessments. |
| ETS (Educational Testing Service) | $17.75 – $23.00 / hour | Known for the AP Reading program; often seasonal work. |
| Write Score | $12.00+ / hour | Performance-based; pay can increase with speed and accuracy. |
| Specialized / AP Scorer | $20.00 – $39.00 / hour | Higher rates for advanced subjects or specialized teacher grading. |
How a Curriculum Developer is great for Work From Home Jobs for Retired Teachers Over 60
You get to design the gameplan for younger teachers.
The years of experience you have in the classroom are invaluable to what actually works for other teachers.
More good news is that many of these jobs mean you are not tied to the clock.
At least I think it’s good news, because I prefer getting paid on results. Usually, you could expect to get paid project-based fees!
Here is a table of the estimated project-based fee.
| Project Type | Estimated Fee Range | Description |
| Single Lesson Plan | $250 – $750 | A standalone lesson with objectives, materials, and assessments. |
| Standard Online Course | $5,000 – $15,000 | A fully polished 10–12 module course for EdTech platforms. |
| Comprehensive Curriculum | $20,000 – $60,000+ | A full year of coursework for a specific grade level or subject. |
| Corporate Training Module | $4,500 – $10,000 | Interactive modules for employee onboarding or safety training. |
Plus, it’s usually 100% desk based, which means you don’t have to be on your feet all day long.
You might be wondering how to find these jobs. I strongly recommend this place HERE.
The reason why is that they weed through the offers to make sure it’s not bullshit and legit. They also have the largest selection of work-from-home jobs!
More choices are better!
Plus, they help you get the job over other people! It is a subscription service, but they only have good opportunities and not bullshit and scams.
How an Educational Consultant is great for Work From Home Jobs for Retired Teachers Over 60
Have you ever wanted to be the wise elder?
Like the character Little Finger from the series Game of Thrones?
This is what an educational consultant does. Advise schools or companies on their systems and help improve them.
The best news is you experience helps and is an asset. Heck, if I had years in school, I would leverage them.
Plus, it helps with networking and staying connected to the educational scene and being of service.
| Role / Experience Level | Hourly Rate | Estimated Annual Income |
| Entry-Level Consultant | $40 – $55 | $62,000 – $83,000 |
| Mid-Career / Experienced | $60 – $95 | $95,000 – $125,000 |
| Independent Specialist | $150 – $250+ | $140,000 – $240,000+ |
Closing
I really just scratched the surface on work-from-home opportunities.
There are WAY more options, such as..
- virtual assistants
- Instructional Designer
- Academic Advisor / College Admissions Coach
- Proofreader / Editor for Academic Papers
- Academic Coach
- Professional “Starter” at a Golf Course (I think it’s a real thing)
Honestly, some people have real issues with retirement!
Even if you work 1 day a week, staying productive, doing what you enjoy, sharpening your mind, and feeling useful, it could be a wonderful thing.
The money is icing on the cake!
Plus, if you can do it at home, without a commute, it’s WAY better.
You might be wondering how to find these work-from-home jobs. I wrote a post HERE that shares 10 steps to find these types of jobs and how to land 1.
I hope this post might have been helpful. Bye for now.
